A true gem of a person, Abdul Sattar Edhi may no longer be with us but his legend is an inspiration for us all to work in harmony and to uplift our grief-struck society. We want to show that we have not forgotten the struggles of Edhi Sahab and through our little contribution, we have tried to show how individual differences and joining hands can ensure a better future for our coming generations.

To carry on with his mission of loving humanity and helping others to live a better life, we were able to collect a few funds from different areas and through different campaigns. We would like to extend our gratitude to Amal Academy for providing us the opportunity to be able to help out as much as we could on individual and team levels.

We started the fund collection in different groups actively functioning in different cities of Pakistan such as Lahore, Karachi, and even Gilgit Baltistan. All the students who were actively participating in the activity tried their best to collect as many funds as possible. The group I am working with had a diverse experience regarding the fundraising for the Edhi foundation. Among the six of us, we all had to face different challenges and overcome obstacles in our way. But nevertheless, we persistently overcame the hurdles and faced the failure. Despite all the challenges, the team was able to collect a good sum for the contribution.

On an individual level, a team member from Gilgit Baltistan, Muzammil struggled to get funds from the local market area. As the people had a major concern while donating that how is this going to benefit them, but Muzammil was very aptly able to answer all their questions and convince them to donate.

Our other team members; Zainab and Hamid were with the Lahore team who collected donations along with the Lahore team. They also faced numerous rejections while collecting donations from Liberty Market, but their experience eventually taught them a lot. They described the experience all challenging on the other hand very wholesome as well because they knew its for a greater cause and they believed in the legend of Edhi Sahab left for us to follow.

Third platform for us to raise donations was from an entrepreneurial option. A small business run by me and my friend on Instagram, called ‘The Restorative Niche’ is focused on bringing peace, equality, and joy through the products. we have started a campaign where the money from every next product bought would be donated to the Edhi Foundation for the Karachi flood relief funds. Although we had to face failure at this platform as well, but persistence is what Edhi’s legend taught us and we are determined to make it through. Through Social media promotion, we are trying to raise awareness in the service of humanity.
